Renewable energy technicians often specialize in photovoltaic (solar) energy installation but may find some opportunities in wind energy (turbine) technology. Photovoltaic technicians, also known as PV installers, assemble, install, and maintain solar panel systems on rooftops or other structures. This includes measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules, as well as performing electrical work such as current checks. A wind turbine services technician is someone who is specially trained to prevent wind turbines from malfunctioning or stopping completely. This is done by providing wind farms with routine inspections, troubleshooting any problems, and repairing the wind turbines when necessary.
